The Manojlovac waterfall

Manojlovac waterfall, is the third, highest and, as some might say, the most beautiful waterfall on the Krka River. It is situated 19.5 kilometers down stream from the source. The waterfall is about 500 m long and up to 100 m wide. It is made up of a series of travertine barriers, with a total height of 59.6 m. The final barrier, where the river abruptly turns from northwest to southeast, is also the tallest barriers where water drops from a height of 32.2 metres.
The canyon around the waterfall is overgrown with sub Mediterranean vegetation. Travertine formations at this waterfall include beard-like clusters, and caves.
Today, the travertine barriers are mainly covered in moss, due to wet and dry conditions. The waterfall is only present during high waters, when it shines in a palette of rainbow colours. Situated on a plateau to the left side of the waterfall is a prehistoric Dalmatian ruin named Burnum. Due to its location on the river crossing, the ancient writer Plinius mentions Burnum as “a fortress which had endured great battles”. Ruin of an old watermill stands on the right bank of the river.
This ruin bears withness to a traditional way of life and also as a significant economic element for the area all the way up to the 1st half of 20th century.
